Column Trust Limited - An indigenous company has an outsourcing/Training Division that specializes in the provision and management of contract staff in all categories as well as the selection and placement of temporary staff for corporate organizations (including The Banks, Oil and Gas, services Telecoms, Manufacturing, Construction & Allied Industry, Hospitals Healthcare Companies and Multilateral Organizations).

Our Client, an International Construction Company is looking for the services of qualified individuals to work at their Lagos project:

Job Description
  • Responsible in ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions; review of work pertaining to receivables, payables, general accounting and payroll matters and preparation of various management reports.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Handles internal audits of accounts payable, distribution of payroll, fixed assets and cash; and initiate correction in journal entries; maintains general ledger and balances subsidiary accounts through verification, allocation, trial balance posting, and reconciliations of transactions and discrepancies resolution.
  • Prepares and maintains control of subsidiary accounting records involving a variety of transactions and accounts and summarizes financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other necessary statements.
  • Maintain various ledger accounts including reconciliation of general ledger, revenue accounts, expenditures, and cash balances; and avoids legal challenges by complying with the legal requirements.
  • Responsible for project payroll preparation by initiating computer processing and reviews the tabulation, monitoring and distribution of payroll costs to appropriate general ledger accounts.
  • Responsible in reviewing and checking of subcontractor's invoices and billings, including endorsement for approval and for payment schedule.
  • Monitors the financial activity of the project, prepares correspondence and related expenditure reports including monthly financial report, annual expenditures reports and request for reimbursement and handles closing of books at year end upon completion of annual audit.
  • Reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information and calculations and makes or directs correcting entries including preparation and recording of assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses entries by compiling and analysing account information.
  • Assists in accounting staff evaluation process, selection, evaluates work performance, counselling and recommends initial disciplinary actions and implement other personnel decisions including input into goal setting process for the section.
  • Prepares and directs the preparation of audits, financial statements and varied fiscal reports of the project, provide technical support to outside auditors and review and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Posts data to various ledgers, registers, journals and logs following established accounting techniques and procedures and assist Finance Manager with the preparation of consolidated of annual budget.
  • Protect the Project, Department and Company's value by keeping all information confidential.
  • Secures financial information by completing database backups and perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complies with the Project and Company safety procedures and regulations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in company sponsored training or seminars opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks and participates in professional organizations.
Qualifications/Requirements and Experience
  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science/HND ‐ Major in Accounting.
  • At least with 3-5 years' work experience in Finance Department gained from a Construction Industry.
Computer Knowledge:
  • Microsoft Office, E‐mails and other Window-Based applications including Accounting software is desirable.
Other Requirements:
  • Minimum - 28 years old.
  • Maximum - 45 years old.
  • Physically strong and healthy.
Working Condition:
  • Can work with minimum supervision and under pressure.
Certifications:
  • Diploma in Accountancy.
  • ICAN/ACCA certification is an advantage.
Training:
  • Training and exposure in financial management and analysis is an added advantage.
Licenses:
  • Certified Public Accountant, an advantage.
