The director general of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig-Gen. Johnson Olawumi has disclosed that over 96,000 graduates will be mobilised in the 2014 Batch B Orientation which will commence on 26th August, 2014.

Olawumi, who was speaking during a media chat with bureau chiefs and editors, also stated that security challenges in the country have continued to put pressure on the deployment and relocation process of the scheme, adding that the scheme will not force corps members to serve in the troubled states but will rather relocate them automatically when they apply for it.

He added that the requirement for relocation or redeployment is on health or marital grounds, and warned corps members that procure fake medical papers for the purpose of effecting relocation to desist from the act as medical papers submitted for that purpose will be subjected to scrutiny and any case of forgery will be punished in line with the NYSC Bye-Laws.

The DG said that in order to increase the relevance and impact of the scheme and expand its value to critical stakeholders, he has come up with a four- point agenda including improving the service content of the scheme, enhancing the welfare and safety of corps members and staff, expanding partnership for greater impact, funding and support and increasing the visibility and relevance of the scheme.
