An International Terminal Operating Company managing over 50 terminals world-wide, is commencing operation of a new terminal company in Nigeria and seeks to recruit interested and qualified professionals to fill the position below:

Job Description
  • This role involves a range of activities and responsibilities that bridge the commercial and operational activities of the Shipping Division of a terminal company including the supervision of multiple personnel to maximize productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure smooth day to day vessel operations and shipping documentation processes and procedure and maintain regular contact with customers working in berth planning, commercial and operational roles.
  • Secure berth facilities for all vessels calling at the terminal and take responsibility for cost budget and cost control.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of the terminal and terminal equipment and berth facilities.
  • Analyse and monitor operational data to ensure that potential problems are averted.
  • Supervise the activities of the Shipping Division of the company to ensure accurate and detailed documentation and compliance with all relevant maritime industry statutory requirements in order to avoid delays and sanctions.
  • Ensure the maintenance of industry safety standards and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A good first degree from a recognized university.
  • An MBA or a professional qualification is essential.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar position, 5 years of which should be at Senior Management level.
  • Must be a confident and assertive team player with good communication skills end must be familiar with the computer programme associated with the industry.
  • Paying critical attention to details, he/she must have excellent financial and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to handle difficult situations that may require an element of negotiation or problem solving.
  • Proficiency in computer use and multimedia applications.
  • Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping or any other relevant professional body is obligatory.
