Job Description
- This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to shipping operations.
- The role directly supervises multiple personnel to maximize productivity across the ship side.
- The position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Federal and State shipping regulations and requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Generally supervise ship side personnel and operations for tallying of cargo and other activities of vessels berthed at the Terminal.
- Attend berthing meetings as well as liaising and relating with alt the relevant agencies in the industry.
- Ensure proper documentation through the Customs, Shipping Companies, Terminal Operators and other Agencies for the clearance and dispatch of cargo from the Terminal.
- Ensure smooth operations concerning the organization's transport and logistics needs in general.
- Plan, direct and coordinate operational processes.
- Analyze facility operations to ensure that the facility maintains high quality and safety standards to support the continued growth and profitability of the Terminal.
- Work to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability and overall equipment efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- First degree in a related field from a reputable institution
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role within a large organization, 5 years of which should be at Senior Management level,
- Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping or any other relevant professional body is obligatory.
- Proficiency in computer use and multimedia applications.
