The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) is the manager of Nigeria’s Sovereign Wealth Fund. It was established as an independent agency by an act of the National Assembly in May 2011.

The NSIA is set up to receive, manage and invest in a diversified portfolio medium and long term revenue of the Federal Government, State Government, Federal Capital Territory, Local Government and Area Councils, in preparation for the eventual depletion of Nigeria’s hydrocarbon resources, as well as the development of critical infrastructure in Nigeria that will attract and support foreign investment, economic diversification, growth and job creation.

Job Title: Head Infrastructure Risk Management

Reporting To: The Executive Director/Chief Risk Officer

Job Dsecription
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all infrastructure-related risks, including transaction and project-specific risks. Inherent in this will be to develop and implement an appropriate framework for providing consistent measurement, reporting and control of risks across the NSIA’s Infrastructure portfolio.

Key responsibilities will be to:
  • Perform comprehensive risk assessments, including statistical analyses and provide up-to- date information to guide the Authority’s investment decisions.
  • Continuously review/assess the risks facing the NSIA’s infrastructure projects in order to proactively establish appropriate mitigating controls and monitoring mechanism/framework.
  • Interpret and analyse reports/data/information to identify possible risk exposure(s).
  • Generate regular reports to executive management on the risk profiles of the Authority’s infrastructure investments.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, events, issues and developments to assist/enable the development and implementation of appropriate control measures, monitoring mechanism as required.
  • Define and implement various risk mitigation solutions including insurance options.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
  • A good first degree in Economics, Finance or any Business related discipline from a reputable institution.
  • Post-graduate degree(s) in any related disciplines and relevant professional qualification(s) will be an advantage.
  • A minimum often (10) years’ experience, five (5) of which must be in infrastructure risk management, preferably in a leading international investment bank or a similar institution.
  • Excellent knowledge of risk management practices and practical hands-on experience of market, operational and cross-border risk management techniques and practices.
  • Strong understanding of risk management and infrastructure project development.
  • Ability to think strategically and holistically and appreciate the impact of various policies, issues and solutions.
In addition, candidates for all roles must possess the following attributes:
  • Proven leadership, negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Excellent networking skills, particularly relationship-building, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of the NSIA mandate, regulations and operating environment
  • High ethical standards and level of integrity.
