The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the Premier Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria. It was incorporated in 1950 as a non-profit making organization, Limited by Guarantee under the Companies Act of 1948. The primary objective of the Chamber is to promote, support or oppose legislative or other measures affecting trade, industry, commerce and agriculture as well as representing the opinion of the business community on the above matters in particular, and the economy as a whole.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Assistant Research Manager (Economist)

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Description

  • Researching, analyzing and monitoring economic developments and issues of importance to the Lagos & Nigerian business community, and helping to shape government policy on investment and trade.
  • Preparation of weekly, monthly & quarterly economic reports to council and exco.
  • Preparation of economic report and outlook for the Chambers quarterly business newsletter.
  • Coordination of Economic and Statistics Committee and the Advocacy Committee meetings.
  • Support the advocacy function through provision of timely information on macroeconomic issues and other Government policies that have potential to affect the business community.
  • Preparation of quarterly sectoral report.
  • Liaise with Trade Group Secretaries in preparation of papers and speeches.
  • Keep an up-to-date record of policy pronouncements by the Government at both the State and Federal Levels.
  • Create timely and engaging content optimized for platform use and intended audience.
  • Preparation of presentation slides for occasions/events when the Chamber is expected to deliver lectures or make presentations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree/HND in Economics.
  • Master’s Degree in Economics
  • Minimum of 6 years cognate experience.
