GIS - Not less than 50,000 youths across the country have gotten job opportunities through the SURE-P Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), the head of operations, Mr AkuboAdegbe, has said.

Speaking at the orientation training for employers and interns organised by Federal Ministry of Finance in collaboration with GIS which held in Kaduna yesterday, Akubo made known that the interns are placed in reputable private and public organisations where they work and learn skills relevant to their dreams and aspirations for 12 months.

While he mentioned that each of the interns was paid N30,000 monthly; he stressed that the essence of placing them on 12 months work with organisations is to improve their employability skills as well as give them a source of livelihood.

He made known that the Federal Government established GIS as part of efforts to reduce the number of unemployed youths in the country. “Many programmes were introduced by Federal Government in order to address the issue of unemployment in the country among which is the GIS. We are presently into partnership with some state governments on job creations for people of the state,” he stated.
