Since 1971, Family Health International (FHI) has been at the forefront of public health research and intervention programs in the developing countries. In collaboration with national governments, local communities and leading research institutions, FHI delivers services and conducts research in HIV/AIDS, other infectious diseases and reproductive health to improve the lives and well-being of some of the world's most vulnerable populations. In Nigeria, FHI is engaged in providing public health services and implementing programs in HIV/AIDS, TB, reproductive health, malaria, and health systems strengthening in partnership with the Government of Nigeria.

To strengthen our operations in the country, we are seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:

Graphic/ Web Designer

The Graphic/ Web Designer, under the supervision of the AD Technical Documentation, will be rsponsible for designing, producing and maintaining various organizational websites and contributing to the overall web communications strategy and special projects. S/he will develop visual concepts and designs that reflect business and creative requirments.

Web Designing Responsibilities
  • Create and design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content for websites.
  • Build websites using technologies that conform to international standards and make sure that they are universally accessible and logical and recommend improvements if necessary.
  • Ensure that the layout of the web content is accessible and logical and rrecommend improvement if necessary.
  • Add new functionalities, upgrades, debugging and enhancements for web applications.
  • Participate in the preparation of systems requirements and design specifications for web-enabled solutions.
  • Perform maintenance and updates to existing websites
  • Provide training on maintenance and update procedures on web content management.
  • Contribute to the overall development of the web communications strategy of the organization.

Graphics Designing Responsibilities

  • Design/create graphics to meet specific promotional needs such as packaging, displays or logos.
  • Create visual concepts that match the programs and images of the organization.
  • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and select style and size.
  • study illustrations and photographs to plan presentation of materials, products or services.
  • Draw and print charts, grphs, illustrations and other artwork using the computer.
  • Develop negatives and prints to produce layout photographs, using negative and print developing equipment and tools.
  • Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, graphic design, publishing, or other dicsipline related to the primary responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with 2 years experience in web design, and a minimum of one year experience in producing standards-complaint cross browser websites using Adobe CS4 We Premium software..
  • A masters degree with 3 years experience will be considered.
  • Experience working in a communications/public relations environment will be an advantage.
