The Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Programme (MNCH2) is seeking for a Security Manager to contribute and work within this dynamic five (5) year project. MNCH 2 is a country led programme which aims to reduce maternal and child mortality in Northern Nigeria. Funded by the Department tin International Development (DFID), the programme is being implemented by a consortium comprising of the Futures Group, Society for Family Health (SFFI), Option. Mannion Daniels (MD), Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH), Axios, and Marie Stopes International (MSI), MNCH2 will be implemented in six states in northern Nigeria; Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Yobe and Zamfaza

Job Description

Futures Group seek to employ a Security Manager for MNCH 2 programme operations in Northern Nigeria. The successful candidate will be based in Kano and required to travel to project states across Northern Nigeria on a frequent basis, The candidate will be responsible for the identification of risk and the management of security (relating to MNCH 2 programme activities, The candidate will ensure best practices and the correct protection of employees, international consultants. infrastructure and equipment, as well as the reputation of the programme Other key responsibilities will include the provision of comprehensive, efficient, cost effective operational. tactical security service and advice to management at all levels. The position will report to the Deputy Team Leader, Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe and secure working environment for all programme employees, consultants, and visitors.
  • Ensure that die correct level of protection for all MNCH 2 assets are put in place and maintained to the required standard.
  • Ensure that all MNCH 2 employees, international consultants, and visitors are given the correct and relevant induction briefings and training on security and safety.
  • Ensure that programme relevant security and emergency response plans, including those on crisis management, evacuation and medical, are maintained at all times.
  • Provide regular feedback and recommendations to the Nigeria Security Manager on the effectiveness of the plans.
  • Ensure that the Nigeria Security Plan and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to security for all GRM and Futures progiamines in Nigeria are read, understood and implemented by all MNCH 2 personnel, and that through the Nigeria Security Manager regular suggested amendments are submitted.
  • Conduct regular site visits and security audits to all MNCH 2 states in Nigeria.
  • Provide effective management of all outsourced security personnel.
  • Liaise with security agencies and representatives (both international and national), appropriate government authorities and keep abreast with implementation as required of security laws and regulations in Nigeria.
  • Ensure that ill international and national staff are given regular and relevant security briefings and training including HEAT, first aid and scenario based workshops.
  • Provide a weekly security report to the Nigeria Security Manager and Programme Management.
  • Ensure that the necessary Occupational Health and Safety requirements are in place at all MNCH2 locations.
  • Ensure that effective security communications and tracking systems are maintained at all times and on a 24/7 basis.
  • Maintain a close relationship with Programme Management with regard to the identification, planning and implementation of budgets required for security related personnel, assets and infrastructure.
  • Perform analysis and investigations on all security related incidents pertaining to MNCH 2 in Nigeria and follow up with reports to the Nigeria Security Manager.
  • Assume other relevant security responsibilities as assigned by the Nigeria Security Manager.
Requirement
You Will Have
  • Five years in the military at officer or senior noncommissioned officer rank, and in a combat arm.
  • Three years plus of commercial experience in the security industry.
  • Experience of operating in high threat and intensity environments at management level,

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Hausa
  • In depth understanding of the current security situation across Northern Nigeria
  • Clean criminal record (a background check will be conducted)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, documentation and technical writing skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills including effective negotiation and conflict resolution skill
  • Proven effective leadership and management skills
  • Knowledge of security technical equipment and application
  • Risk analysis and assessment skills
  • Can work under pressure and with minimum supervision
  • Reliable, committed, loyal and trustworthy
  • Willingness to travel throughout Nigeria.
