Overview
- The primary purpose of this role will be to provide personalized support service to users for efficient delivery of library objectives.
Essential Duties / Key Job Roles and Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide reference and information services to library clientele by answering questions, retrieving materials, assisting in referencing & basic bibliographic searches.
- Prepare and circulate a list of new arrivals.
- Prepare & paste spine labels on new/repaired/ worn-out materials.
- Shelf/re-shelf new/consulted books & journals.
- File loose-leaf services, advance sheets, periodicals & supplements in appropriate binders.
- Provide reference and information services to library clientele by answering questions, retrieving materials, assisting in referencing & basic bibliographic searches.
- Prepares and circulate a list of new arrivals.
- Prepare & paste spine labels on new/repaired/worn-out materials.
- Shelf/re-shelf new/consulted books & Journals.
- Files loose-leaf services, advance sheets, periodicals & supplements in appropriate binders.
- Removes appropriate materials & arrange disposition according to library policy.
- Maintain and operates library equipment & systems, including computer, printers, copy machines, scanners, fax & others to input and retrieve library-specific information.
- Maintain and updates card catalogues using standard library guidelines & systems both manual & automated.
- Maintain circulation records, checks materials in and out of the library & maintain library operational files.
- Compile newspapers/journals for binding.
- Enforce silence in the reading area of the library.
- Generate & send out Reminders/Overdue/Return notices to concerned library users.
- Take physical inventory of library materials and compile relevant statistics for management reports.
- Any other duty specific or ad-hoc to be assigned by the line manager from time to time.
- Works in library technical service area and provides services including searching bibliographic utility as a source for MARC records, copy cataloguing, updating holdings information.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- B.Sc / HND in Library / Information Science.
Professional Qualification:
- Membership of relevant professional library bodies is an added advantage.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of library work experience.
Skills Requirements:

- Basic knowledge about every aspect of the Librarianship.
