It was created in response to the dearth of resources available to African scientists to maximize their potential in terms of professional and leadership development.

Job Description:

The successful applicant will conduct research on Nutrition and global health as it relates to youths and lead our Leadership and ethics program that is focused on professional development in the educational sector.
The African Centre for Innovation and Leadership Development (ACILD) is a development non-governmental organization (NGO) headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria with offices in Toronto, Canada and Nairobi, Kenya. Ourmission is to be a legendary reference point for providing the finest resources for fostering the development of innovation and leadership in Africa through empowering researchers and leaders in advancing innovation in science and technology development on the continent. ACILD has two main division that reflect its strategies for developing leadership and innovation: Leadership and Ethics Program and Innovation & Trust Program.

Job Description

Working alongside other members of the ACILD team, the Program Leader will manage a grant on developing nutrition games to improve health outcomes for secondary school students and also build and support team members to develop, manage and implement training and consulting engagements on professional and research development within universities and secondary schools in Nigeria.

Specifically, the program leader will:
  • Manage all activities related to the Leadership and ethics program of ACILD.
  • Initiate and facilitate training and workshops, seminars and symposiums for students and faculties in university and secondary schools on professional development, leadership and achieving academic.
  • Lead the development of grant applications related to youth development and global health in Africa.
  • Lead the development of cutting-edge seminars and workshops for lecturers and teachers at universities and secondary schools on professional and personal development.
  • Develop relationships with other multi- and bi-lateral donors within the educational sector.
  • Contribute to the design of new strategies, collaborations and implementation plans to ensure long-term sustainability and impact of the Leadership and ethics program.
  • Manage the program’s annual African Youth Leadership Summit.
The Following Are Some of the Expected Skills and Qualifications of the Program Leader
  • Masters degree in a Project management and/or Education/Health-related field. An advanced degree such as PhD, MD will be an asset.
  • At least 5- 10 years’ experience in managing large projects or grants.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze and integrate diverse information from varied sources.
  • Demonstrated evidence of strong leadership and results-oriented team management.
  • Excellent writing skills with at least two-three peer-reviewed publications.
  • Possesses a strong passion for improving education and youth development in Africa.
  • Demonstrated ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent coordination skills, with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple activities and projects concurrently.
  • Experience with the Nigerian educational sector (secondary schools and Universities) is an asset
  • cStrong interpersonal skills with ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with people of different cultural backgrounds.
