A 5-year donor funded development project implemented through sub-grants to advocacy NGOs in the social sector requires the services of a qualified candidate to fill the position below:

Job Title: Program Officer

Location: Abuja

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Team (PT) in developing quarterly work-plans and reviewing work-plans of sub-awardees
  • Support the PT to establish and run systems for effective planning, and management of activities implemented by sub-awardees
  • Assist the PT in strengthening systems for reporting on program progress against proposal targets and monitoring and evaluation frameworks
  • Assist the PT in the development of program strategies, partnerships and collaborations to optimize implementation
  • Produce high quality, analytical technical activity, monthly, quarterly and EOP reports
  • Assist the PT in capacity building efforts aimed at sub-awardees
  • Prepare policy update reports and policy briefs on emerging social sector policy issues
  • All other related duties as assigned.

Competences, Experience, Qualifications and Skills

  • B.Sc / BA Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences or its recognized equivalent.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience with international development programs
  • M.Sc / MA Degree in Public Health, Gender Studies, Business Administration, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences will be a decided advantage
  • Knowledge of public policy making and development programming in Nigeria
  • Basic knowledge of non-profit accounting and financial management skills
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding development programming
  • Proven ability to coordinate social sector development project.
  • Ability to organize systems to monitor administrative and implementation results.
  • Capacity for independent effort with ability to work within and support project implementation teams
  • Use a computer to accurately and rapidly enter and retrieve data and information.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize own work under tight deadline.
