Job Summary

  • We are currently recruiting a Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Specialist Trainee to work as a CNC Machine Operator in our company.

Job Description

  • The CNC Specialist (Trainee) is responsible for operating the Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) router machine, creating drawings and designs and translating to GCODE on the CNC router for execution.
  • The job holder will also be responsible for maintaining quality standards during production by inspecting incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products, and ensuring that the final output meets up to company and client standards.

Job Responsibilities
CNC Machine Operation:

  • Set-up and manage CNC machines to perform different jobs
  • Create drawings, designs and translate to Gcode instructions on CNC router
  • Translate drawings and requirements into dimensions for production
  • Ensure the CNC machine operates in accordance with the guidelines of the company.
  • Oversee the machines while they execute the tasks and make the necessary changes to produce improved results
  • Check machinery on a daily basis to guarantee functionality
  • Record all machine actions by completing production and quality logs
  • Provide timelines to clients
  • Ensure that results of machining process align with client expectations
  • Conduct regular CNC machine assessments.

Quality Control:

  • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting a visual and measurement test, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
  • Approve in-process production by confirming required specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating the required adjustments to the production supervisor
  • Approve all finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests
  • Return products for re-work if needed and complete documentation to confirm re-work
  • Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs
  • Maintain safe work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
  • Coach and mentor junior employees; seek opportunities to grow leadership in others
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications, attending seminars, watching industry videos, etc.

Job Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Trade Certificate / OND / HND in Carpentry / Wood Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years furniture making experience.
  • 1 - 3 years’ experience as a CNC furniture machine operator.
  • Experience working with furniture design tools such as Sketch up, Revit, AutoCAD, Maxcut.
  • Experience working with GCode.
  • Great attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude.
  • Strong comprehension and analytical abilities.
  • Good computer and mathematical skills.
