Job Title: Head of Underwriting - Agric Insurance Desk

Job Description
The candidate shall be responsible for the following duties:
- Underwriting and management of Agricultural Insurance Portfolio of the Company.
- Research and advise on the best risk management approach for the company's Agricultural Insurance Portfolio.
- Conduct pre-loss survey on agricultural insurance risk and prepare reports for underwriter purposes.
- Report agricultural insurance portfolio premiums and claims on a regular basis to Management through the Divisional Head of Technical.
Qualification
- A relevant degree in Agriculture, Agric Economics, Insurance/Actuarial Science or Social Sciences,
- 7-10 years relevant working experience in Insurance industry out of which 5 years must be in the management and underwriting of agricultural insurance risks.
Attributes:
- Well organised, pro-active, hands-on individual with excellent leadership skills to build team work and coordinate activities and individuals towards attaining organizational objectives
- Entrepreneurial drive and the willingness to scale-up Agricultural Insurance portfolio from a start-up into a profit-making unit.
- The person must be able to familiarize him/herself quickly with the field of agricultural insurance.
- Demonstrable insurance sales management and underwriting experience is required
- A thorough understanding of local insurance regulations, procedures and practices relating to Agric insurance.
- Good knowledge and skills in Microsoft applications.
- Age: Candidates above 45 years need not apply.
