Job Title: Graduate Trainee Boiler Operator

Location: Onitsha, Anambra

Job Description

  • Reporting to the Boiler Manager the Boiler Operator responsibilities will include ensuring optimal operation of Boiler and managing the parameters of Quality, Process and Productivity.
  • Must be able to plan and execute measures to optimize capacity utilization of plants, administer quality controls, plant safety and optimize production costs in terms of process losses, utility costs, maintenance and manpower.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of Boiler.
  • Boiler operators replace defective valves, gauges, and other boiler parts as needed
  • Perform frequent inspection checks and regular maintenance on boiler systems and related valves, gauges, piping, and other equipment.
  • Implementation and documentation of preventing maintenance system.
  • Record daily gas readings, feed water tests, and other test results.
  • Manage facilities, assuring a clean and safe working environment
  • Ensures that the personnel of the department perform their duties and responsibilities in accordance to the set requirements and provide guidance where necessary.
  • Maintain records on equipment histories and costs, coordinates with Senior Engineers for needed changes toward increasing reliability.
  • Adjust valves and boiler controls as needed to control the amount of pressure in the system and keep the boiler system functioning safely.
  • Prevent and controlling hazards and accidents by ensuring machines are in good conditions.
  • Ensure adherence to hygiene standard as approved by the company.
  • Commitment and compliance to high quality product and standards.
  • Boiler operators repair piping, valves, and other boiler machinery as needed
  • Adhere to all company safety standards in the line of work
  • Analyze, record, troubleshoots equipment problems, and proffer procedure recommendations to Senior Engineers.
  • Diagnose root cause and specify method of repair for plant equipment.
  • Constantly inspect water, gas, and other fluid levels inside boilers and related equipment, making adjustments to fluids as necessary to keep systems operating at peak levels.
  • Managing utility breakdown alerts
  • Boiler operators adjust valves and boiler controls as needed to control the amount of pressure in the system and keep the boiler system functioning safely.
  • Formation and implementation of policies for boiler operations
  • Work with other departments to incorporate utility with company procedures and operations.
  • Adherence to standard operating procedures for the units assigned to you in Golden Oil industries
  • Ensuring KPI’s are met
  • Asset management of utility equipment’s and machinery
  • PPE management of all staff at your unit.
  • Complying to food safety guidelines as provided in quality and safety standards as updated from time to time under different standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor's of Engineering (B.Eng.)
  • Full certification to operate standard boiler machinery
  • 4years of working experience as a boiler operator required,
  • High physical strength, grip strength and dexterity
  • Good attention to small details and highly organized
  • Mechanical skills, as well as critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability to manage, coach, and provide training for direct reports
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of manpower planning
