Menzon Limited - Our client, John-Paul Pharmaceuticals Limited, is an indigenous Nigerian Company with interests in the production, marketing and distribution of healthcare products including medicines and supplements, equipment and consumables. The company is equally into the production of high quality household products including hand sanitizer, antiseptics, hand wash, toilet cleaner, etc.

They are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Production Chemist

Location: Garki Area 11, Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary

  • Production chemist will work as part of a team to formulate and produce household products using chemicals, conduct laboratory analyses as well as contribute to optimise production, improve safety and quality, among other things.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize manufacturing instructions and SOPs in carrying out production activities.
  • Operate equipment safely and effectively.
  • Develop, revise and update SOPs as needed to improve process and quality.
  • Contribute towards new product formulation including developing.
  • Carry out product registration documentation for new products.
  • Test materials and products to ensure they meet required quality standards and report results accordingly.
  • Plan production activities in order to meet production targets and timelines.
  • Ensure availability of sufficient stock of chemicals and other supplies for production activities including supporting budget preparation.
  • Manage costs by ensuring value from vendors and monitoring usage of chemicals and materials.
  • Ensure compliance to QHSE standards and procedures including identifying potential safety issues and taking steps to address them.
  • Conduct research and interpret results.
  • Ensure maintenance of a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in the laboratory / factory at all times.
  • Supervise multi-function staff, including guiding and training junior chemists.
  • Preparing sundry reports.
  • Other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Pure / Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry or any related course.
  • Possession of Masters’ Degree and/or membership of professional bodies may be an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years work experience in a similar role preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good working knowledge of industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Research and analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • High attention to details, accuracy and precision.
  • Team management skill.
