Job Description
- In summary, this position is to lead and manage the engineering department of a fabrication yard and provide all of the engineering support activities required by the fabrication department.
Reporting to the Yard Fabrication Manager, the responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the following:
- To act as a focal point for engineering support required for fabrication of offshore structures on the fabrication yard.
- To assist in establishing and running the fabrication yard engineering department. Note that this is basically starting from the scratch.
- To set up the various engineering procedures, standards and formats required.
- To coordinate the required engineering functions with all disciplines to ensure that there are no conflicting details between disciplines.
- To execute any required design for the works either by self or consultant resources working in cooperation with the client department to ensure their technical requirements and functionality are adequately addressed.
- To supervise any consultant design work, verifying adequacy of drawings and specifications to to ensure that they meet company standards and relevant industry codes.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
- A university degree in engineering - minimum second class honours.
- Membership of professional bodies such as NSE (Nigeria), ICE (UK) and ASCE (USA) is desirable but not necessary.
- Minimum 15 years industry experience.
- Familiar with international engineering standards (IEC, NEC, ISA, BS, ASME, API,NFPA etc.) will be advantage.
- Proven qualified Fluent in English.
