Job Description
  • Reporting to the Yard Fabrication Manager, the Precommissioning/Commissioning Manager will manage activities of the Pre-Commissioning Department pertaining to pre-commissioning tests and inspections to ensure integrity of all platform fabrication.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Attend production meetings and those specific to pre-commissioning activities.
  • Attend meetings in the capacity of Commissioning Manager with project teams.
  • Planning schedules and drive implementation to complete precommissioning work planned activities.
  • Organizing pre-commissioning operations.
  • Managing pre-commissioning operations (includes identifying and acquiring of manpower equipment and supplies).
  • Managing development and maintenance of an accurate reference pre-commissioning completion system and quick (database). Includes documentation and information retrieval reporting.
  • Manage the corrections/alterations and preparation of project commissioning dossiers by (utilizing all discipline engineers covering every aspect of operation).
  • Manage the project through to completion (offshore commissioning of the whole plant).
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
  • Vocational Training in Electrical & instrumentation field.
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in the oil & gas process and electrical/instrumentation fields.
  • A good understanding of the relevant codes and standards and testing requirements for same is a prerequisite.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential, for dealing with a broad spectrum of cultural and organisational styles, as well as being able to fit in as a team player.
  • A self-starter, able to plan and work at locations remote from Alliance project engineering and engineering management staff.
  • Proven experience of supervising and coordinating the activities as part of a multi-discipline fabrication team.
  • Good communication and team building skills at all levels - able to lead and gain the respect of contractor and 3rd parties.
  • Must be resourceful with the ability to improvise / prioritise when confronted with obstacles without losing focus and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to exercise relevant judgement ensuring success of the assigned projects.
  • Proven track record in managing multicultural situations.
  • Results-driven, focused on delivery and quality of the projects.
  • Able to hold own ground when challenged by others, being able to present a balanced view when putting arguments forward.
  • Comfortable working with a multinational, multicultural team.
