University of Uyo (UNIUYO) is located in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The university was formerly known as the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS). On October 1st, 1991 the Federal government of Nigeria established it as a federal university and the name was changed to the University of Uyo. The university inherited students, staff, academic programmes and the entire facilities of the erstwhile University of Cross River State established by Cross River State in 1983. Academic activities commenced during the 1991/92 academic session. UNIUYO has 12 faculties,the postgraduate school and the school of continuing Education.

We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Director of Physical Planning

Location: Uyo, Akwa Ibom

Qualifications and Experience
The right candidate for the job must possess:

  • At least a good Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Quantity Surveying not below Second Class Lower division from a recognized institution;
  • Evidence of registration with relevant professional bodies;
  • Ability to perform within the University system
  • At least 18 years post-qualification cognate experience in Physical Planning for Engineers, Town Planners, Builders, Quantity and Land Surveyors, Estate Valuers or 15 years for Master's degree holders or 17 years for Architects;
  • Ability to give direction to the complementary functions of the entire arms of the Physical Planning Directorate;
  • A good and practical knowledge of computer applications;
  • The right candidate can also be a professionally qualified and experienced officer not below the rank of a Deputy Director of Physical Planning with at least 4 years' experience on the post.

The Right Candidate

  • The Right Candidate for the position must have verifiable track record of competence, responsiveness, demonstrable integrity and transparent ability to work in a team and be able to function with minimum supervision.
  • In addition, the preferred candidate must possess excellent communication skills, and be in good health to be able to sustain the demands of the office.

Salary

  • CONTISS 15 (N2,886,591 - N2,875,791) annually.

Conditions of Service:

  • The conditions attached to the position are as generally applicable in the Nigerian University and in the Public Service of Nigeria and as may, from time to time, be determined by the University Governing Council.
  • The appointment shall be on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
