Job description
The firm is currently seeking a professional to develop / originate new investment banking mandates throughout Africa. Extensive knowledge of African markets and experience in one of the following targeted sectors is preferred:
- Agriculture/Agribusiness
- Energy
- Telecommunications
- Transportation, Shipping and Logistics
- Financial Services (Banking, Insurance, Micro-Credit) Manufacturing
- Infrastructure
- Pharmaceuticals
- Mining
The following investment segments are in particularly strong demand from our institutional investor base:
- Growth Equity
- Recapitalizations (Buy-outs, distressed situations)
- Venture Equity
- Structured Credit (esoteric and new asset classes)
Job Responsibilities
The Director of Origination is expected to present high quality deal flow to the New York sales teams by facilitating introductions with senior decision makers. Weiji’s sales professionals covering Africa will construct marketing materials tailored for each opportunity.
Compensation
Compensation is variable only and structured as the sum of a fixed % and discretionary % of revenues resulting from originated transactions (both advisory and success fees). There is no fixed compensation. Certain expenses reimbursed for established origination directors.
Desired Skills and Experience
- The ideal candidate will have sales/business development experience within the banking, financial services, and accounting sectors or from a particular industry.
- He/She will have extensive networks within a specific industry/market sector and access to an active rolodex of companies.
