The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the position of:

Job Title: Breeding Database Programmer and Manager

Ref: DDG-R4D/BDPM/08/14
Location: Ibadan, NG

Job Description
The successful candidate’s major tasks will include:
  • Code and database development (in collaboration with BTI).
  • Database administrator managing day-to-day operations.
  • Training of users which will involve regular traveling in Africa.
Minimum Qualification, Experience and Skills
  • The candidate should have a Masters degree in plant breeding and extensive experience in crop database development.
Skills & Abilities
Core Competencies:
  • Programming in Java, SQL, and PERL.
  • Knowledge of web-development and a good working knowledge of Linux, and web servers are desired.
  • Working knowledge of statistics and quantitative genetics linkage analysis is an added advantage.
  • At least five years experience in large multi-user database development with inclination to crop improvement.
  • Knowledge of hardware maintenance and operations.
Terms & Conditions:
  • Initial appointment is for three years. IITA offers a competitive remuneration package paid in US dollars.
