Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (NYSC)

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description

  • We seek to recruit a young and dynamic Quantity Surveyor who would work in a project team to manage and plan all costs associated with all types of construction projects, maximize project margin and add value to the construction process by proactive involvement in procurement, cost management, and reporting.
  • The quantity surveyor will be tasked with analyzing existing budgets and making improvements, reviewing plans and preparing quantity estimates, negotiating with various contractors and vendors, as well as building relationships with clients and site managers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
  • Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
  • Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents.
  • Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
  • Keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
  • Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
  • Minimize the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.
  • Assist in performing risk and value management, as well as, cost control.
  • Assist in the valuation of completed work for payment processing.
  • Assist to certify works completed by subcontractors; assess changes and document variation orders, monthly valuations, and final accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of project status reports and production of curves.
  • Preparation and adherence to project purchasing targeting and costing budgets.
  • Monitor site resources usage against budget.
  • Assist the procurement team in the analysis, selection, and placement of subcontract orders
  • Assist the tender preparation team in the preparation of Bill of Quantities, costing for tenders, schedule of works, specifications, and all contract documentation
  • Advising on procurement strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Management, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong mathematical abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of construction.
  • Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and strategize.
