Job Summary
- The Head, Project & Structured Finance will be directly responsible for originating, structuring and executing project and structured finance transactions on behalf of Clients.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for strategic leadership of project finance team and achievement of medium and long-term objectives.
- Take responsibility for origination of project finance deals in Nigeria and across Africa, using own network, Regional Directorates of United Capital as well as external partner institutions;
- Where necessary, lead negotiations between financiers and project sponsors on critical or complex issues
- Develop and maintain relationships with financiers to facilitate deal closure- local commercial and merchant banks, international banks, development finance institutions, private equity and debt funds, corporate sponsors as well as other sources of capital.
- Act as senior relationship manager with Clients and ensure that transactions are appropriately managed.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Project Finance, Structured Finance & Facility Agency team(s).
- Collaborate with the Capital Markets team and cross-sell other products of the Investment Banking business, as well as the overall United Capital group.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that annual P&L targets of the Project Finance Group are met.
Requirements
- First Degree or its equivalent from a reputable tertiary institution.
- Appropriate post-graduate or professional qualifications such as an MBA, CFA, M.Sc. in Finance, ACA, ACCA.
- A minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience gained in investment banking or similar environment. Experience in leading project finance, debt solutions or infrastructure finance advisory teams (at least three (3) years) will be expected.
- Experience in managing large, complex financing transactions would be well regarded.
- Candidates will be expected to demonstrate good relationships with local and international financiers, large African corporates/project sponsors, or both.
- Commercial understanding and business acumen.
