A one-day Health Workers' training tagged, "Training the Trainer on Ebola Virus Disease" has commenced in Asaba, Delta State with a call on health professionals and other stakeholders in the state to imbibe the spirit of teamwork for the prevention and management of the disease in the society.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Joseph Otumara, who gave the charge, said that the training was part of proactive measures to increase awareness among health professionals, on how to detect, contain and manage any eventual outbreak of the virus in the state.

Otumara, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr Michael Omatsola said the commendations the nation had been receiving for the high level of containment efforts since the index case in Lagos State, notwithstanding, there was the significant need for every health worker in the state to be on the alert and desist from being drivers of stigma, in order to rid the nation of the epidemic.

Commending the organisers and participants of the workshop, Dr Otumara appealed to them to sustain the high level of preparedness so far achieved, even though the state was free of the virus.
