Job Description

  • Ebonyi State University is recruiting for an experienced Farm Coordinator particularly in poultry farm management, to work on a commercial poultry farm based in EBSU Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to join the University community's expanding and integrated agricultural process.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the poultry farm and its team, including:

  • Management of all farm operations.
  • Ensuring all objectives of running the farm are met.
  • Maintaining safe working practices.
  • Managing and motivating a team.
  • Ensuring welfare of livestock.
  • Ventilation management.
  • Feed management.
  • Vaccinations management.
  • Production performance.
  • Marketing and disposal of the birds; and
  • Record keeping.

Qualifications

  • The candidate must possess a minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture (B. Agric) or HND in Agriculture or related discipline. Emphasis on Animal Science & Production will be of added advantage
  • Previous hands-on farming experience and technical knowledge in poultry production of not less than 5 years, working with at least 5,000 birds.

In addition, candidate should have:

  • Effective people management skills
  • Self-motivation, with the ability to motivate others
  • Ability to carry out manual duties
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Proficient computer skills
  • A valid driving license
  • An awareness of customer demand, food production standards and sustainability.
