The Next Hire Consulting - Our client, an Islamic School, is recruiting a self-motivated and highly experienced individual to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Department (Mathematics)

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Overview

• The Head of Department is a managerial post and successful candidates would be required to supervise the activities and curriculum delivery of teachers in their respective departments.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible and accountable for setting and advancing the academic strategy of the Department in line with school strategic plans and direction
• Actively assisting the Head Teacher in ensuring the good professional practice, standards, and quality of teaching and learning of subject/s through proper dialogue with the class teachers
• Co-ordinating the teaching and learning of the subject/s for which one is responsible;
• Setting examination papers, co-ordinating marking schemes and moderating examinations and assessment processes in the Department
• Assisting teachers with sourcing the resources and supplies needed for lessons.
• Ensuring that the classroom remains safe and conducive to learning.
• Invigilating quizzes and final examinations.
• Documenting and reporting on students' progress.

Requirements

• A minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Education, or equivalent.
• At least 1 year experience in a school leadership position with general management experience (preferably in a Cambridge Associate School), with good leadership skills
• Be a registered teacher with TRCN
• A thorough understanding of best practices in teaching;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Organized, flexible disposition;
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students
• The ideal candidate should have a strong working knowledge of ICT.
