About 500,000 agents will be recruited for the Glo’s mobile money platform in the next six years, an official of the telecoms company has revealed.
Arinze Anapugars said yesterday that Glo’s mobile money agents could start the business with as little as N20, 000 and earn up to twice their investment as commission monthly, depending on their volume of transactions.
Globacom launched its mobile money platform, Glo Xchange, in Lagos last week.
Anapugars, who is one of the telcos’ spokesmen, said in a statement that Globacom would train the agents and provide its massive network of outlets for the platform while the partner banks will provide their mobile money platform to subscribers in compliance with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s policy.
The telecoms company said that efforts have been made to ensure the protection of funds on the Glo Xchange platform through its financial partners such as Firstmonie, Ecobank, Stanbic IBTC and Zenith Bank “who will help to keep the money safe.”
The first regional agent registration exercise was held by the company in Benin City, Edo State capital, last Saturday, the Glo’s spokesman said, adding that prospective candidates from 18 council areas of Edo State trooped out to register as agents of the mobile money network.
