Rigger / Technician at VDT Communications

VDT is a licensed Private Network service provider specializing in the provision of Enterprise Wide Area Network (WAN) and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) link connectivity using Fiber Optic and Wireless Communication infrastructure and access networks. We are a leading Broadband communication service provider to corporate organizations with leased Fiber Optic trunks to the thirty-six (36) states in Nigeria and the FCT, with 145 Points-Of-Presence (POP) and counting with localised technical support staffers.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Rigger / Technician

Job Objective

• This role is responsible for ensuring the quick resolution of escalated faults from service management to avoid downtime and ensure that customer’s links are up and running at all times.
• This role is also responsible for carrying out site survey that aid accurate and quality installation.

Responsibilities
Technical and Operational Strategy:

• Acting as installer on all approved links installation for new projects.
• Professional Rigging with good and protected link installation.
• Ensure that customers and client links are well managed by constantly responding to fault calls
• Ensure that site survey are conducted accurately to aid quality installation
• Ensure that all escalated faulty calls are fixed within target SLA for resolution.
• Ensure 100% up time availability at the PoP by constant monitoring of the links and trunks.

Service and Value:

• Ensure clients fault calls are attended to within SLA time frame.
• Ensures quality functionality of all installed links at client’s site before hand over.
• Reduce/eliminate repeat call on all worked on installation.
• Ensure all equipment are properly configured before installation to avoid damage and downtime.
• Ensure safety in rigging activities and equipment protection during installation.
• Assist in carrying out quarterly routine maintenance at the PoP.

Meetings and Documentations:

• Ensures proper documentation of all installed links, resolved faults for documentation and reference purpose.
• Ensure job completion forms are properly signed off with clients before leaving clients site.
• Ensures proper stock level of spares and equipment is captured and reported in the daily report.

Equipment Sourcing:

• Assist in the purchase of spares and accessories for installation from local supplier.

People Management:

• Work with POP Head and Rigger in harmonious working relationship to achieve organizational goals and objective.
• Ensure riggers are properly trained on how to effectively carryout any new installation and resolution of faults when the need arises.

Skills & Knowledge
Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills:

• Minimum of National Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering / Telecom
• Relevant Experience (Type of experience and minimum number of years
• Minimum of 2 year experience in a telecommunication industry.
• 1 year Rigging experience in a Telecommunication industry
