Job Title: Consultant Anaesthetist/ Emergency Care Physician

The Job:
The appointee will be required to efficiently deliver cost-effective general and specialist medical care to eligible staff, dependants, contractors and third parties in line with company policy to sustain a healthy and productive workforce.
The appointment will be for an initial 5 year period with possible renewal.
The Duties:
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide general and specialist medical care to NLNG staff, dependants and other entitled stakeholders
- Perform clinical assessment for fitness and provision of anaesthesia services during surgical operations.
- Provide intensive care to critically ill patients and also adequate pain relief to patients.
- Provide medical emergency, evacuation and resuscitation services.
- Support the training and coordination of the activities of the Medical Emergency Response Team for effective emergency services.
- Provide job specific medical examinations to certain types of workers exposed to special risks
- Perform Medical screening for all staff, including pre-overseas and pre-transfer medical examinations.
- Provide specialist anaesthesiology and general inputs towards the development of procedures and protocols for optimization of anaesthetic and general medical services in NLNG.
- Conduct health promotion programmes to improve the overall health and well-being of the workforce
- Ensure the suitability, availability and serviceability of all anaesthetic and other general medical equipment needed to deliver routine and specialist care.
Qualification/Experience
The right candidate should:
- Possess MBBS with either FFA, FMCA or FWACS or their equivalents and be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Have a minimum of 10 years post MBBS working experience, 5 of which should have been in the area of specialty as a consultant in a standard hospital.
- Possess strategic and motivational leadership skills.
- Maintain high professional standards, discipline and communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external parties.
- Be a good team player, with ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- Be Computer Literate
- Not be more than 50 years old as at 31st December, 2014.
