Applications are requested from interested candidates for full-time positions at Lagoon Hospitals, a JCI Accredited Facility. Our hospital is highly specialized in orthopedics & Trauma, General Surgery, Critical Care, Medical & Surgical Oncology, Urology, Cardiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Pediatrics, acute care and emergency medicine. The Paediatric Department has a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with 2 neonatal ventilators capable of ventilating babies as low as 500gm. The NICU is a 6 bed unit with a 6 bed Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU). There is an in-patient facility for older children and Paediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU) in a different wing of the Hospitals.

We are recruiting to fill the below position:

Job Title: Consultant Paediatrician

Location: Lagos

Responsibilities:
  • Coordination and development  of the hospital's paediatric department
  • Responsible for the duties of paediatricians and paediatric nurses
  • Ensuring that patient care and management is optimal and is in adherence to the clinical guidelines.
  • Supervisory and managerial cover for paediatricians and  planning duty schedules
  • Provide leadership guidance in the department and establish good working relationship with other departments  
  • Participate in the recruitment, orientation and training of paediatricians and paediatric nurses.
  • Work with department team members towards meeting and exceeding department's set targets
  • Act as mediator between the department and management
Key Performance Indicators/ Performance Goals:
  • Maintenance of a high standard of medical practice in the paediatric department
  • Facilitation of continuing medical education of medical and nursing staff
  • Increased  footfalls in the department
  • Promoting and marketing the services of the department and the hospital

Requirements
  • Applicants must possess a Fellowship or its equivalent in Paediatrics and have a minimum of 5 years’ post board/fellowship experience.
  • Neonatal intensive care skills/certification will also be an added advantage
  • Full registration and affiliation with relevant bodies with current licenses.
  • Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team is highly essential.
  • The successful candidate will also be the Head of Department
