Job Title: Senior Engineer, Field Operations

Job Summary
Covering Abia & Bayelsa states.
  • Responsibilities includes but not limited to New sites acceptance, Fault escalation follow up & timely resolution, maintain 99% site & TCH availability, Site inspection, Spot checks and Preventive maintenance of both active and passive equipment including Hybrid & Public mains operation and maintenance, fuel delivery and consumption management, DG and A/C replacement, BTS, TX & power optimization, BSC/MGW power operation.
  • Also supervise and ensure that ALL power operations activities of EOT vendors and other partners are in accordance with the agreed scope, SLA and best practice.
Principal Functions
  • Ensure monthly, Quarterly and annual Preventive maintenance on both Passive and Active equipment on sites timely and escalate to you time manager where necessary
  • Track and Monitor diesel delivery and consumption to avoid diesel shortage and outage on site
  • Strictly follow up for fault/TT escalations resolution within the agreed SLA on both Colo and GF sites to avoid KPI degradation and ensure correct TT closure captured the actual cause of failure
  • Ensure deployment of mobile DG & Cell on Wheel where necessary to avoid prolong outage and improve customer satisfaction
  • Liaise with Government regulation department to resolve Environmental, regulatory, states, Local Government and community issues with 24hrs and follow up to permanent solution
  • Follow up for proper execution of approved CR within your cluster and escalate to your line manager when activity is deviated
  • Ensure timely replacement of faulty components on BSS, TX and Power equipment as well weekly link alignment for MW links with deviated RSL
  • Ensure timely replacement of faulty fibre patch cord and splicing on national fibre BB to avoid prolong outage and reduce MTTR
  • Operate and maintain hybrid & public power supply, manage fuel delivery and consumption, supervise and coordinate DG and A/C replacement, BTS power optimization, BSC/MGW power operation.
  • Perform acceptance of new sites, optimization of power & active infrastructure by ensuring all work packets, services and materials are delivered in accordance with contractual agreement, scope and quality.
  • Provide high level support to the regional team on power, BSS & Transmission issues and coordinate resolution.
  • Assess work quality of contractors within your cluster to identify possible shortfalls and instruct correction of same for the realisation of optimal performance.
  • Monitor and control power capacity utilisation and ensure optimal safe limits on generators, rectifiers, UPS, AVR etc. are not exceeded. Timely escalation of any capacity issue and recommendation for optimisation and upgrades is also required where necessary.
  • Prepare and present periodic reports on power availability and timely escalate any serious issue that may negatively impact on network quality and availability.
  • Supervise maintenance of all equipment on site in your cluster as well as activities of EOT vendors and other contractors to ensure quality of service and scope. Also confirm and sign off successfully completed tasks by both parties with JCC.
  • Maintain adequate and up to date inventory of all power infrastructure within purview
  • Perform effective monthly site supervision, spot check, external alarm simulations and cheek mate vendor team activity to enhance Quality of service
Educational Requirements
  • First degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
Experience, Skills & Competencies
  • 3 - 5 years relevant experience in Mechanical/Electrical (Power) systems (Diesel Generators, Rectifiers, UPS, Inverters, PDF/APD panels, GTS/ATS/AMF panels, Gear Switches, HVAC, Public mains supply, power and signal cabling, safety and isolation systems, etc.) within a large telecoms or other related technical organization with extensive industry experience on power operation and maintenance.
