Job Title: Ophthalmologist and Optometrist

Location: Owerri, Imo
Employment Type: Full-time

Ophthalmologist Responsibilities

• Providing routine care such as vision testing and prescribing glasses and contact lenses.
• Performing corrective surgeries, such as repairing injuries and corneas, and removing cataracts.
• Diagnosing and treating eye diseases and injuries.
• Managing emergency eye clinics, outpatient clinics, or other specialist eye clinics.
• Treating medical disorders that affect the vision
• Using therapeutic procedures and performing biopsy

Ophthalmologist Requirements

• A Medical Degree in Ophthalmology.
• Successful completion of an internship and residency in ophthalmology.
• Interested candidates must have at least 2 years experience practicing as a consultant.
• A state license to practice ophthalmology.
• Expert working knowledge of the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye.
• Good administrative and managerial skills.
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Optometrist Responsibilities

• Conduct routine eye exams for clients.
• Maintain patient records.
• Prescribe medications to treat ocular diseases and disorders.
• Perform pre- and post-operation checks.
• Check patients for signs of diseases and refer them to other specialists when needed.

 Optometrist Requirements / Skills

• Interested candidates should possess a Degree in Optometry with a minimum of 5 years work experience.
• Proficiency with modern eye care techniques and equipment
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain scientific information to patients
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus
• Listening skills
• Attention to detail
