We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: HSE Manager

Location: Mokwa, Niger
Employment Type: Full-time

Purpose of Job

  • Hazard Identification, Risk Management and Loss Prevention.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced;
  • Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards including PPE concept revision and monitoring;
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and creating weekly audit reports with follow up;
  • Making changes to working practices in order to make them safe and compliant with legislation including strict work permit system implementation for all non-routine works;
  • Leading in-house training with employees about health and safety issues and risks and implementing as well monitoring the toolbox program;
  • Keeping records of inspection findings and producing reports that suggest improvements;
  • Recording of incidents (incl. near miss, unsafe act and condition) as well as accidents and producing KPI statistics;
  • Respond to reports of unsafe conditions by requesting repairs or maintenance.
  • Being up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of allHealth and Safety Executive (HSE)legislation.
  • Ensuring the safe installation and operation of equipment (incl. compliance with inspection requirements);
  • Liaising with relevant government regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure that monthly inspection of Fire Extinguishers, Exit Lights and Emergency Lighting, are carried out.
  • Managing and organising the housekeeping including safe disposal of wastes (simple and hazardous substances) plus implementation of total recycling for plastic waste.
  • Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent.
  • 5 years minimum of experience as a HSE Manager.
  • Relevant HSE certifications.
  • Proficient with Healthcare Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Highly motivated team player willing to go the extra mile.

Competency:

  • A sound Knowledge and practical experience in applying the techniques used to identify and assess hazards and effects.
  • A sound knowledge and practical experience in applying the principal standards/procedures that is in place for HSE risk management.
  • A sound knowledge of the potential HSE risks associated with changes to plant and procedures.
  • A sound knowledge of how HSE risk management is incorporated into business and work plans.
  • A sound knowledge of the Emergency Response needs and plans.
  • A sound knowledge of HSE inspection and audit requirements and how they are carried out.
