We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Editor

Location: Wuye, Abuja

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will (but not limited to):

  • Read content and correct spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors.
  • Rewrite texts to make it easier for readers to understand in simple correct English Language.
  • Verify facts and authors cited in material for publication.
  • Evaluate submissions from writers to decide what to publish.
  • Work with writers to help their ideas and stories succeed.
  • Develop story and content ideas according to the publication’s style and editorial policy.
  • Allocate space for the text, photos, and illustrations that make up a story or content.
  • Approve final versions submitted by staff.
  • Modify written content from writers.
  • Develop a content calendar for the firm in line with the firms’ projections.
  • Oversee content production.
  • Create highly shareable content.
  • Adhere to editorial best practices.

Requirements

  • B.A in English Language or Linguistics.
  • 3 - 5 years Editorial Experience, as well as English Language tutorship.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs especially Word and PowerPoint.

Required Competencies:

  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with content management systems.
  • Ability to meet the necessary budget.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to give constructive feedback.
  • Conceptual creative abilities.
  • Ability to create catchy topics/subjects.
  • High level of grammatical skills to be able to use words appropriately, interpret and communicate information following basic rules of sentence construction, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ability to prepare reports of modified materials monthly.
  • Displays integrity - transparency in dealings with management, staff, and other individuals that you may come in contact with.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, to enable professional interaction within staff and management, both internal and external to the firm.
  • A flexible, pro-active approach to work including the ability to prioritise and re-prioritise.

Salary
N100,000 - N130,000 monthly
