Michael Stevens Consulting - Our client, an extra-ministerial department set-up to oversee the management of pensions for pensioners not transiting to the Defined Contributory Scheme has recently received the mandate to carry out its functions as stipulated by the Pension Reform Act (PRA) 2004.

Job Description
  • This role is primarily responsible for overseeing the finance & accounts, administration as well as the human resources functions of the Agency.
  • The Job Holder reports to Executive Secretary
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee implementation of the Agency's Finance, Human Resource (HR) and Administrative policies, procedures and strategies.
  • Advice the Executive Secretary on all finance, administrative, HR, procurement and facility management matters.
  • Identify risks and long-term financial implications of intended projects/ initiatives, and advise the management team accordingly.
  • Supervise the timely preparation of financial statements, ensuring the statements reflect the Agency's financial position and comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide timely, accurate and relevant financial information for decision making.
  • Coordinate the development of Agency's budget and allocation of resources.
  • Ensure the availability and adequacy of funds in line with the Agency's financial policies.
  • Provide overall guidance, leadership/strategic direction for all activities of the department and ensure alignment with approved work plans and programs.
  • Oversee and champion the development and implementation of the Agency's strategy, objectives, work plans and ensure alignment with the overall goals of the Agency.
  • Prepare and present weekly, monthly, quarterly reports on franchise services and operations.
Job Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any other Social Science discipline.
  • Professional accounting certification is compulsory.
  • A minimum of 18 years work experience of which at least 3 years should have been in a management position.
Key Competency Requirements:
  • Advanced financial and accounting knowledge, including in depth understanding of public sector, international and Nigerian accounting standards.
  • A good knowledge and understanding of key components in human resource management.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership/supervisory, coaching, mentoring and people management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Nigerian labour and public sector employment legislation
