Michael Stevens Consulting - Our client, an extra-ministerial department set-up to oversee the management of pensions for “pensioners not transiting to the Defined Contributory Scheme” has recently received the mandate to carry out its functions as stipulated by the Pension Reform Act (PRA) 2004.

Job Title: Corporate Communications Officer

Job Description
  • This role is primarily responsible for promoting the Organisation's corporate image and managing the interface with media and the general public.
  • The Job Holder would report to the Head, Corporate Communication.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage the various aspects of the Organisation’s media relations strategy, including handling of media queries, interviews and press conferences.
  • Implement effective media / public relations and crisis management systems and processes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to defined policies and procedures governing both internal and external information dissemination.
  • Liaise with media and public relations agencies.
  • Handle the planning, organizing and convening of public relations and corporate events.
  • Ensure timely and prompt implementation of the internal communication plan.
Job Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or any relevant discipline.
  • A post graduate / relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 8 years work experience of which at least 2 years in a related function.
Key Competency Requirements
  • A good appreciation of strategies and key concepts in communication management.
  • A good understanding of the Nigerian public sector.
