Michael Stevens Consulting - Our client, an extra-ministerial department set-up to oversee the management of pensions for “pensioners not transiting to the Defined Contributory Scheme” has recently received the mandate to carry out its functions as stipulated by the Pension Reform Act (PRA) 2004.

Job Description
  • This role is primarily responsible for promoting the Organisation's corporate image and managing the interface with media and the general public.
  • The Job Holder would report to the Assistant Director, Corporate Communications.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide effective support to the management of the various aspects of the Organisation’s media relations strategy, including handling of media queries, interviews and press conferences.
  • Support the Implementation of effective media / public relations and crisis management systems and processes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to defined policies and procedures governing both internal and external information dissemination.
  • Liaise with media and public relations agencies.
  • Provide quality support in the planning, organizing and convening of public relations and corporate events.
  • Ensure timely and prompt implementation of the internal communication plan.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or any relevant discipline.
  • A post graduate / relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of three 3 years work experience.
Key Competency Requirements
  • Good appreciation of strategies and key concepts in communication management.
  • Good understanding of image management.
  • Good appreciation and understanding of media relations
