The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking for an Electrical Technician/ Operator. This position is a local one open to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria:

Position Summary
  • The Electrical Technician/Operator will be saddled with the responsibility of providing practical/operational working of the transformer alongside other heavy-duty power generating machines (medium and low voltage) as stationed in the panel room of the facilities management department.
Position Requirements
  • National Diploma Certificate or Equivalent in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering.
  • Two(2) years and above electrical/industrial experience in medium voltage (11KV VCB Panels and Generators Synchronization (LV) panels operation and maintenance
  • Manual Dexterity: Must be able to provide examples of use of hand & power tools and other related mechanical/electrical equipment.
  • Must demonstrated evidence of utilizing safe work practices.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills are a must.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft applications.
  • Exposure to practical Knowledge of electrical distribution & controls like Air Circuit Breaker, Molded case circuit Breaker, Current Transformers, Voltage Transformers, Potential Transformers, Miniature circuit Breakers, Contactors, Switches, Relays, Knowledge of PLCs, e.g. Allen Bradley, Easy Gen (WOOD WARD) controllers, ETC.
  • Practical /Operational Knowledge of Transformer paralleling and generator synchronization.
  • Ready to work in a shift routine weather during the daytime or night.
Other requirements, abilities for the position:
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance.
