Job Title: Fibre Optic Cable Technician

Job Description
- We are currently seeking experienced and motivated candidates to join our operations in Lagos, Nigeria for permanent, full-time position.
- Fiber Optic Technicians are involved in all facets of fiber splicing including cable preparation, termination, fusion-splicing, testing and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Ability to lay cable, monitor and supervise proper description of projects
- Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber sites and links
- Documenting and reporting on work completed
- Submission of site reports on a daily basis
- Maintaining project and safety documentation
- Inspecting fiber routes and hub sites as preventative maintenance
- Ensuring all attended sites are clearly labelled
- Locating faults and mobilizing resources within minimal time to counter fault
- Restoring links within 4 hours or less depending on the criticality
- Proficient in fiber cable termination with connectors
- Well versed in fusion splicing machine technique
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation
- Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere including, but is not limited to: carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels)
- Self-disciplined, motivated and organized
Qualifications
- B.Eng in Engineering or HND in an Engineering Field
- Knowledge of measurements, calibration and troubleshooting of optical tools.
Skills:
- Technical Site Survey Skills
- Knowledge of Optical Fibre Deployment
- Splicing Skills
- Proficiency in use of Optical test tools
- Proficiency in use of drawing software
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required
- Although most work will be done in Lagos, willingness to travel would be beneficial as travel options may arise for future projects.
