The National Action Committee on AfCFTA (NAC-AfCFTA) was established in 2019 to proffer viable strategies for the implementation of AfCFTA. The committee consists of Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the organized private sector, academics, and representatives of civil society. The committee’s mandate is to coordinate all AfCFTA readiness interventions, monitor the implementation of the Agreement as well as work towards its ratification.
The Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), established in 1888, is the foremost Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria and West Africa. LCCI is the recognized voice of the organized private sector with a corporate membership size of over 2,500. The Chamber contributes as much as 60 per cent to aggregate industrial activities in Nigeria, with a mandate to promote the interests of members and the broader business community through policy advocacy and impactful stakeholder engagement.
NAC-AfCFTA in collaboration with LCCI intends to prepare and onboard 1,000,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) onto e-commerce platforms over a 2-year period. The scope of the pilot phase will include the onboarding of 10,000 MSMEs across clusters in Lagos, Kano, and the Abia States. The project will focus on growing trade in the fast-moving consumer goods segments, with emphasis on Textile & Garment, Leather and Light.
