Overview

• Cooper Platform have been subcontracted as lead on strategic communication development & dissemination for a security sector development project and now seeking to engage an individual consultant as Account Associate to support the Lead Consultant on the project accounting and financial management requirement, including compliance to business regulatory requirements in Nigeria.

Job Summary

• The Account Associate will be responsible for all aspects of the financial records, including regulatory and financial reporting. Keeping proper financial records of project expenditures, ensure maintenance and adherence of donor recommended accounting procedures and processes.

Essential Functions

• Prepares payment vouchers and cheques for project payments and other office expenditure.
• Prepares payment to sub grantees, consultants, travel advances and supplies of materials and services
• Handles documentations: filling correspondences, payment vouchers, bank tellers, receipts, advance request, expense returns, etc. in an orderly manner.
• Ensure Payment vouchers have required adequate support documents before payment.
• Ensures prompt remittance of statutory deductions such as WHT & VAT deductions.
• Support procurement of supplies or vendors for project materials and services.
• Make travel reservations and hotel bookings for staff and project workshops.
• Prepare weekly and monthly accounting reports.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Requirements

• B.Sc / HND / OND (Accounting or other related disciplines), preferred candidate must be ICAN, ACCA or its equivalent certified.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in non-governmental organization managing donor funded project (FCDO, DFID, USAID or Global Fund).
• Knowledge of Generally Acceptable Accounting Practices and Principles (GAAP) and Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations required.

Work Requirements:

• Location is Abuja
• Limited Travel to production locations (rarely).
