Green Concern for Development (GREENCODE) is a National registered NGO with CAC No: CAC/IT/NO 25643 and has been in operation for over 10 years. Our mission is to work with the poor and socially excluded people and government for the promotion of environmental and human rights protection in communities in Nigeria, aimed at poverty reduction through education, information sharing, research, trainings, and direct impact interventions are in humanitarian emergency response and development, with physical presence in Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Abuja, Cross River, Akwa Ibom states.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Shelter Construction Engineer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Job Description

  • Technical design and preparation planning implementation and supervision of construction and shelters activities.
  • Supervising of the construction of shelter activities/quality and quantity
  • Responsible to record all facts and transactions such as starting date work suspension or any technical changes in the construction of shelters in details on the project report
  • Daily monitoring of the shelters construction activities and updating the project manager on a daily basis.
  • Carry out other tasks assigned by the Project Manager.
  • Assist to prepare technical parts of project proposals and reports writing progress reports within deadlines as required
  • Supervising field staff skilled and unskilled labor and verifying daily attendance record.
  • Assist to development of monitoring system to ensure precise information on staff activity on each site and districts project progress quality and quantity of materials used quality of work.
  • Responsible to submit the project progress report to the Project manager (Quality and Quantity)
  • Responsible to design project plan and shelters design in Auto cat program
  • Estimating and costing of all shelter’s activities in the field.
  • Having close contact with the local authority and community representatives regarding their participation with the new shelters being constructed and motivates them for further maintenance.
  • Checking and controlling all recorded shelters documents
  • Organize regular meetings with government line departments and other relevant committee and stakeholders
  • Participate in internal project staff coordination meetings
  • Prepare quality reports (weekly monthly and quarterly) and submit to project manager
  • Establish a good working environment with project staff and other actors in the field
  • Keep and update the filing system regularly
  • Develop tools for data collection and data analysis
  • Regular monitoring/supervision of ongoing activities in districts on shelter construction issues.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess a B.Arch, B.Eng, B.Tech with 3 - 5 years experience
  • The position requires high level of integrity, good knowledge of the position applied, excellent report writing skills, coordination and team building skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, AutoCAD and other architectural technology skills.
