We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Mining Engineer (Mines)

Location: Abuja (FCT) 
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Design and implement all mines plan, and coordinate and execute blasting operations
  • Ensure the implementation of short and long term production plans
  • Oversee the activities of equipment and machineries
  • Supervise drilling and mining operations
  • Innovate methods to meet all work schedules, and resolve all technical and managerial problems
  • Liaise with relevant regulatory agencies to secure permits (blasting, explosives, etc.)
  • Ensure accurate blasting design and estimate tonnage for every blasting Determines strength and pattern of blast required and charges detonates explosives in surface or underground mine, pit, or quarry to fracture or separate stone or minerals from solid formations. Measuring depth of drilled blast holes
  • Marks pattern of drill holes or issues drilling instructions for depth placement of blast holes.
  • Ensure the delivery of blasting equipment and explosives to blasting site. Assembling equipment, explosives, blasting cap, primer, loading performing gun with explosives, using hoist, rope, or hand to load certain amount of explosives into blast holes, lighting fuse, dropping detonating device into well, connecting wires to firing device, activating device to set blast off, tying cord into main line to form blast pattern
  • Inspects blasting area to make sure that safety laws are observed, signals workers to clear area. Setting up radio or telephone equipment for receiving blast information and signalling workers to clear area and hoist operator to raise equipment.
  • Connect wires to electrical firing device pushes plunger, turns dial, or presses buttons to set off single or multiple blasts. Tying lengths of delaying fuses into pattern and filling and tamping blasting hole
  • Coordinate with mine Head and other expatriates to develop policies, design mine plans and ensure production quotas are met.
  • Monitor operational performance in strict adherence with budget, and prepare daily production and technical reports.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are adhering to in line with the international best practices
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate engineers, technicians, operators and any other mine personnel.
  • Carry out all other functions as may be assigned by the Director of Mines and/or the Executive Management of the company.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess an MSc in relevant fields with a minimum of 8 years work experience.
