We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Project Officer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

About the Job

  • Under the supervision of and close communication with Japanese consultants (supervisors) of the Project on Capacity Development for Nutrition Improvement in Federal Capital Territory, the Project staff shall be engaged in both technical and administrative tasks required for effective management and implementation of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Support and/or conduct training of trainers for the project counterparts prior to the training conducted for the beneficiaries of the project, especially in the area of agriculture
  • Support project counterparts to conduct training for food-based nutrition improvement for target people as well as provide training participants with technical instructions and knowledge especially in the area of agriculture;
  • Communicate with project beneficiaries as necessary to inform and/or confirm necessary information including technical support at agricultural demonstration farms;
  • Conduct field monitoring on agricultural demonstration plots of the model groups and farms of model group members when necessary;
  • Plan and participate in field surveys in the pilot sites to collect data necessary for problem identification, project planning, monitoring and impact analysis
  • Work with the project counterparts to monitor and provide necessary support to project beneficiaries;
  • Plan, prepare, implement and report on administrative and technical meetings, workshops, and seminars both at the field and inter-departmental or ministerial levels as assigned by supervisors;
  • Make a necessary report to the supervisors regarding tasks and/or according to a request in a given time period;
  • Facilitate the preparation of agendas and minutes of meetings concerned of the project, and disseminate them to the concerned parties;
  • Procure and/or purchase necessary items related to project implementation particularly in the area of agriculture under instructions of supervisors while working with administrative assistants

Requirements and Qualifications
In order to fulfil the duties indicated above, following experiences and knowledge are necessary or preferred;

  • Fluency in English and Hausa languages is necessary
  • Academic background in Agriculture, particularly about Crop cultivation
  • Experience of project implementation in the area of agriculture at an international organisation and/or non-governmental organisation is preferred
  • Experience of working in a multi-sectoral project and/or tasks would be helpful to fulfil the duties.
