We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Junior Agronomist (Supply Chain)

Location: Yaba, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The ideal candidate would be responsible for to managing the upstream supply chain operations of our entire value chain.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques, and solve problems for stakeholders (farmers).
  • Research and promoting agricultural strategies to improve farmers’ productivity within the supply network
  • Visiting fields to monitor field agents and oversee farm activities
  • Testing samples for nutritional deficiencies, diseases, or other changes.
  • Assisting with raw material sourcing, testing, and selection.
  • Keeping detailed records regarding field agents, farmers, crops, and samples.
  • Generating reports and presenting findings to manager, clients, or other interested parties.
  • Conducting training on products and techniques through educational presentations.
  • Managing teams of field agents, farmers, and scientists while conducting field visits or laboratory work.
  • Developing planting and irrigation schedules, budgets, and timelines.
  • Forecast, budget, and procure raw material volumes and specifications
  • Generate purchase orders for suppliers and accurately collate invoices to process payments
  • Track all orders, purchases, and delivery logistics
  • Oversight of all purchase and service contracts to ensure the company’s interests are protected.
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to the company
  • Purchase goods ensuring the optimum price / quality ratio on the market
  • Monitor the supply to meet delivery deadlines always
  • Ensure that all purchases are done by following the financial plan, cash forecast/budgets
  • Anticipate the supply activities related to projects and convey them to the purchaser on time.
  • Participate in project procurement plan of the company
  • Provide technical support on supply chain management
  • Support in managing the Field agent’s and farm management activities
  • Monitor team performance to upskill team where necessary
  • Monitor suppliers’ performance
  • Manage interdepartmental and external communications
  • Manage supply chain database / dashboards efficiently
  • Update purchase/supply records and generate real-time reports on a weekly / monthly / quarterly / annually.

Educational Qualification / Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Sciences, Agric Extension Management, Crop Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an agronomist or plant field agent in food processing.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite and diagnostic scientific software.
