News: Auto Policy to Create 700, 000 Jobs - National Automotive Council (NAC)

The Director General of the National Automotive Council (NAC), Engr. Aminu Jalal yesterday said the new policy in the automotive industry will create 700,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Engr. Jalal who disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the 16th Abuja International Motor Fair also said "The expected gains of the new policy in automotive industry include the price reduction on brand new Nigerian made cares to about N1.5million."

He stated that the Fair is an avenue to enlighten the public on the new auto policy that would move the Automotive Industry forward.

"Sooner than later, Tokunbo vehicles that flooded the Nigerian automotive market after the liquidation of nearly all the local assembly plants and components manufacturing companies would become a thing of the past,"

Jalal noted. In his remarks, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Sen. Bala Mohammed said the Fair will bolster efforts in the realisation of the Abuja Urban Mass Transport Master Plan in which 400 bus units were added to recently.
