Bacita Sugar Company is a large-scale agricultural conglomerate focused on sugar and other food products based in BACITA town, Kwara State, Nigeria. It was established in 2021 to revitalize a moribund industrial facility. At the core of Bacita Sugar Company is the aim to secure planting, production, manufacturing and distribution of sugar and other agricultural based products throughout Nigeria with plans of large-scale exportation. In addition to food production, Bacita Sugar Company is a potential free trade zone operating company that is involved in a variety of agricultural activities and investments

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nutrition Agronomist

Location: Bacita, Kwara
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Lead Irrigation Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Nutrition Agronomist are as follows:

• Visiting fields to collect seeds, leaves, plant and soil samples and testing samples for nutritional deficiencies, diseases and other changes.
• Keeping detailed records regarding fields, crops and samples.
• Generating reports and presenting findings to management.
• Study plants and soil in order to develop better techniques, improve crop yields and solve nutritional issues for the sugar cane.
• We have over 5000 hectares of planted sugar cane, must be able to visit fields on daily basis to asses nutrition needs of the crops.
• Any other duties a maybe required by the organization.

Educational Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Agronomist in an agricultural set-up, preferably a sugar cane growing establishment.
• B.Sc Degree in Agronomy or Agriculture.

Skills and Requirements

• The Agronomist must be able to study soil, plants, seed materials and products to better understand crop needs and develop more effective and efficient farming practices.
• They should be able to conduct research, take sample tests and solve complex problems.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
• Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office and diagnostic scientific Software.
• Strong research, decision making, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Must be able to drive and have a valid driver’s license
• Must be residing or willing to move to Bacita LGA in Kwara State.
