We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Legal Counsel

Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos

Job Description
Legal Advisory and Commercial Law:

• Negotiating, writing, and executing agreements and contracts on behalf of the company.
• Offering counsel on a variety of legal and regulatory issues
• Working alongside other departments within the company to ensure that pre-set targets are achieved.
• Advising on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals
• Researching and anticipating unique legal issues that could impact the company
• Reviewing various technical materials to ensure that they are in compliance with legal requirements
• Collaborate with external counsel to defend the Company’s interests in contract settlements, negotiations and litigation.
• Collate documents for bid and tender applications
• Ensure company and customers keep to the terms of agreements
• Keep legal and compliance database up to date

Regulatory Compliance:

• Advising the company on prevailing statutory compliance requirements and implementation of sound corporate governance framework within the company.
• Process and obtain all relevant permits (such as DPR, BPP, ISO, etc) and license required by the Company for its operations.
• Proactively monitor Government policy and proposed changes to the legislative and regulatory regime affecting the Company's business activities.
• Manage and ensure all Company statutory records and regulatory filings are maintained and up to date
• Ensure company meets all regulatory requirements

Job & Main Specifications

• Nigerian qualified lawyer with a minimum of 3 year post-call experience in corporate and commercial law, regulatory compliance and litigation.
• Astute, commercially aware and highly motivated.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team, and to handle high levels of responsibility.
• Flexibility to take on a variety of different tasks at different levels of the business.
• Keen team player with demonstrable ability to contribute to the development of the Company.
• Ability to work in a fast-moving environment, as the Company undergoes rapid expansion.
