Job Title: Satellite Operations Manager
Location: Lagos
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing programs for orbiting satellites.
- Ensures satellites are functioning properly, creates command systems, and remotely controls satellite activities.
Satellite Management:
- Analyze, design, model and simulate communications systems, subsystems and algorithms for satellite communications networks
- Design and model data-links and command and control systems
- Model and simulate wide and local area networks, point-to-point systems, secure systems, signal coding and modulation schema, digital radio/communications technology and networks architecture design.
- Develop strategies to effectively leverage and integrate new technologies into existing network infrastructure.
- Installs, tests and repairs antennas and related equipment that receives communication satellite signals, following specifications and using hand tools and test instruments.
- Reviews installation specifications, building permit, manufacturer’s instructions and government ordinances to determine installation site for antenna.
- Handles time sensitive ad hoc requests as directed by the Managing Director.
- Partners with sales group to achieve sales lead optimization and sales process efficiencies.
- Evaluation of supplier proposals/datasheets and participating to the selection of satellite electrical equipment
- Determining the satellite electrical verification and test plans
- Monitoring the progress of suppliers, evaluating the technical work (e.g through design reviews) and ensuring the overall consistency at satellite level.
- Ensure that solutions that meets the client requirement are developed
- 2nd level of escalation for network related issues
- Assist Core Networks manager in planning the core network and other functions as would be assigned.
- Ensure that accurate designs are done by the Service Design Executive
- Develop IP Telephony/VOIP solutions for clients
- Assist IP Networks executive in Core network operations
Satellite Network Planning:
- Responsible for Planning, designing, Costing, implementation and Documentation of new release.
- Develop Plans/Proposal to effectively leverage and integrate new technologies into existing satellite network infrastructure.
- Responsible for identifying higher risk changes that have the potential to have a major impact on our services.
- Sourcing and recommending needed equipment to deliver cost effective service.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Responsible for staying abreast of current technologies, industry trends and regulations e.g NCC regulations, MOE & HSE requirements.
- Ensure Legal and regulatory compliance for all technical and maintenance functions.
Job Requirements/ Qualifications
- 5 Years post qualification experience on Manager level operations.
- Demonstrated problem solving ability.
- Ability to multi task in a highly complex, ambiguous environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in: Electrical/Electronics/computer/communication/Info Tech/ICT/Hardware & Networks engineering and Physics engineering
Other Qualifications:
- CCNP, ITIL, IOM, and other relevant certificate
