Ibrahim Shehu Shema ICT and Business Institute, Katsina, is a new, state-of-the art tertiary institution established under the Katsina State of Nigeria Law No. 8 of 2013. The Institute will run National Board for Technical Education (N.B.T.E) accredited courses leading to the award of National Innovative Diploma (NID) in ICT and Business Studies. The Institute will also offer a wide range of professional and career enhancement programs, seminars, and workshops at advanced certificates and diploma. Our programmes are dual-path, with emphasis on both congnitive and practical skills. Enriched by world-class faculty and teaching facility, our goal is to nurture the development of the much-needed manpower in the ICT and business sectors for national growth

Job Position: Director of Finance and Accounts

Job Description
  • The Director, Finance and Accounts, being the Principal Financial Officer of the Institute, shall be responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day financial management of the Institute.
Job Responsibilities
The duties of the Director, Finance and Accounts of the Institute shall include to:
  • Manage the Institute's accounts and investments.
  • Advise the Council, Rector, Academic Board and other Officers of the Institute on financial matters.
  • Assess, develop and implement manual and computerised accounting and financial management systems and procedures as well as control systems.
  • Direct for the preparation of consolidated financial statements of the Institute.
  • Direct for the preparation of periodic income and expenditure balance sheet and cash flow estimates of the Institute.
  • Ensure the correct and timely preparation of financial statements and accounts of the Institute and their submission to the Rector, Council and Committees.
  • Ensure the execution of the annual audits of the Institute's accounts in an efficient and effective manner;
  • Monitor and ensure the efficient and effective management of fixed assets, working capital, receivables and payables of the Institute.
  • Monitor capital expenditure on projects, make returns to relevant authorities and comply with due process and other financial regulations.
Requirements
Qualification and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent from a recognised institution of higher learning plus at least 13 years cognate experience.
  • Membership of a Professional body (ICAN or ANAN).
  • Demonstrate ability to formulate and implement financial policies and produce manual of financial procedures for academic institutions, and develop accounting computer programmes.
Condition of Service
The conditions of service are similar to what obtain in similar institutions of higher learning in Nigeria and are revised by the Government from time to time. Details will be discussed during the interview.
